• Fundacio Joan Miró: This hilltop museum acts as a contemporary showcase for the late Catalan artist Joan Miró. Miró was a world renowned painter, sculptor, and ceramicist, perhaps best remembered for his pieces ‘The Harlequin’s Carnival’ (1925) and ‘The Farm’ (1922).


• Museu Picasso: Occupying five large medieval mansions on the carrer de Montcada is one of the world’s largest collections of work by the Spanish artist Pablo Picasso, co-founder of the Cubist movement and amongst the most recognisable and influential artists of the 20th century.


• Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya: Currently located in the Palau Nacional de Montjuïc, the MNAC holds a collection of over 5000 pieces covering over 1000 years of art. Some of the museum’s most important pieces include Romanesque murals and examples of early Catalan modernism.


• Museu Marítim: This massive maritime museum in the medieval harbour of Drassane is notable not only for its full-size replica galleon, but for the original art, maps, and models it holds that track Spain’s history of navigation.
