You can never quite know what to expect in Costa Calma, with the rise of the tide often changing the layout of its beaches dramatically. This has led to a variety of names being used to describe different areas of the coast, including Playa de Sotavento de Jandía, Pájara Beach, Playa la Lajita, Playa del Viejo Reyes, and Playa Paraiso to name but a few. We have detailed below just a few of our favourite beaches in Costa Calma, which are perfect no matter the turn of the tide!

• Playa de Costa Calma: Close to the town of La Lajita is the well maintained Costa Calma Beach. The tranquil atmosphere here is tough to beat, with calm mornings of joggers and walkers quietly traversing the 2km of sand, stretching seamlessly into relaxed afternoons, when sunbathers take over.


• Playa de la Barca A day in Playa de la Barca often comes with a show, with the unique wind conditions here lending perfectly to a number of water sports that are popular in the area. In fact, the local windsurfing club hosts the Windsurfing & Kiteboarding World Cup every year, bringing in plenty of spectators.


• Risco del Paso: While the scenery at Risco del Paso may change with the tide, one constant is the natural beauty and relaxed atmosphere of the beach. As part of the larger Solvento beach, del Paso can at low tide be the perfect place for long, romantic strolls on the beach. The shore is overlooked by the sandy hill El Paso, from which the area received its name, from which you can watch over the swimmers, windsurfers, and kiteboarders.
