The strongest feature of Agia Marina is by far its stunning beach. This long stretch of golden sand runs the length of the town, offering a welcome recreational spot for tourists and locals alike. While the beach can get quite busy in July and August, there are plenty of sunbeds available to rent from local hotels or businesses.
There are a number of watersports available to try in Agia Marina, so make sure to take full advantage of this beautiful beach and contact any one of the local adventure centres in the area to rent equipment or arrange a lesson with a qualified instructor!
As any visitor to Greece or its islands will tell you, local cultures and traditions are often shaped by a rich mythology. One example of this in Agia Marina is the small, uninhabited island of Agios Theodoros. Found just opposite the mainland beach, this island is said to look like a giant sea monster rising from the depths of the Mediterranean Sea with its mouth gaping open!
Both Theodoros and the neighbouring Mikros Agios Theodoros (Little Agios Theodoros) are home to a number of Kri Kri, wild goats that are native to the area. The Kri Kri’s presence has ensured the islands’ protection. Snorkeling and diving are popular activities around the islands, as is taking a tour of the area on a glass-bottom boat trip!
To help set your holiday off on the right foot, we here at Best4Travel have compiled a list of the top cafés and restaurants in and around Agia Marina, divided by price to cater to all budget types.
With Best4Travel you can have a transfer arranged for you from Chania International Airport straight to your accommodation! The approximate transfer time from the airport to Agia Marina is 35 minutes.

As with the rest of the island, taking the public bus is by far the easiest way to get around Agia Marina. Bus tickets can be bought in the stations assigned across the city centre, or you can simply pay your fare with exact change as you get on the bus. Buses operate everyday, barring any public holidays.
