Nearby Attractions

  • Statue of Liberty
  • In 1886 the people of France gifted the United States a 150 ft copper statue of Libertas, the Roman Goddess of Liberty. This beautiful statue was designed by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, and built by Gustave Eiffel, to celebrate U.S independence. As such, it has come to represent freedom and hope, with the popular story of the statue being the first thing immigrants saw as they arrived in New York by ship in the 20th century and reading the welcoming words of the American poet Emma Lazarus on the plaque below;

    "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!".

  • Empire State Building
  • The Empire State Building has been an iconic part of the New York City skyline since its construction in 1931. With arguably the best view in the city, the building soon became a cinematic symbol of New York itself, with King Kong having climbed it in 1933, Nickie calling it “the closest thing to heaven” in An Affair to Remember (1957), and Nora Ephron cementing its romantic power in Sleepless in Seattle (1993).

  • Chrysler Building
  • This 1,046 feet tall building stands as a wonderful example of early Art Deco architectural style. Although there is currently no observation deck available, there is however free access to the building’s lobby which is complete with an incredible mural by the acclaimed artist Edward Trumbull.

  • Central Park
  • Established in 1857, New York’s Central Park is one of the most visited and filmed parks in the world. As well as providing a gorgeous, natural backdrop for ambling walks, Central Park is also a popular spot for art and history lovers with over 29 sculptures placed throughout its grounds.

    Each sculpture has a unique history and meaning. For example, Cleopatra’s Needle is an Egyptian obelisk dating back to 1475 BC that had been gifted to the United States in 1881 in thanks for remaining neutral while European imperialists attempted to gain control in Egypt.

  • Brooklyn Bridge
  • Connecting Brooklyn to Manhattan, this iconic bridge has gained great cultural significance since its completion in 1883. At the time of its construction, the bridge was hailed as an excellent example of American ingenuity, and would later be shown in the context of the American dream, leading to the beginning of a brighter future, as is the case in Arthur Miller’s 1955 play A View From the Bridge.
