Situated in Corfu Town, is the ‘old city’, where narrow cobbled streets give way to a variety of shops, cafés, and historic monuments at every turn.

Built in the early 15th century, Corfu’s Old Fortress has survived everything from a series of ottoman-venetian wars to Nazi occupation during World War II. Today, the interior of the fortress has been restored to hold a public library, and host various concerts and exhibits.

In front of the Old Fortress, one can find Spianada Square. As the largest square in Greece, Spianada offers a tranquil spot to laze away the day in the centre of town.
