Lanzarote Resorts

Beaches

  • Playa Cucharas: With around 1 km of golden sand, and a prime location in the centre of Costa Teguise, the Cucharas is the most popular beach in the area. The proximity this beach has to the shops and restaurants of the town makes it ideal for families with young children. There are loungers and umbrellas available to rent, from which you can watch the locals wind surfing in the sea.

  • Los Charcos: Further down from Cucharas you’ll find Los Charcos. This is perhaps the most exposed beach in Costa Teguise, and the only facility nearby is a large car park. Although not ideal, the lack of shops does make Los Charcos a lot quieter than the other beaches in the area, and on a sunny day will provide a nice escape from the crowds.

  • Playa del Jablillo: This modest beach in Playa del Jablillo is a favourite for swimmers, as the area’s surrounding volcanic, stone barrier stretches out into the sea, creating a pool that’s protected from the force of stronger waves. Although the beach does have a number of sun loungers and umbrellas to rent, there are currently no loos or changing rooms.

  • Playa Bastian: The Playa Bastian is easily the next best beach after Cucharas in terms of facilities available. Here you’ll generally be able to find ample parking, showers, loos, sun loungers and umbrellas. The beach is also sheltered from the wind by its large stone walls.

  • Playa Ancla: At last we’ve reached the local’s favourite, the Playa Ancla. Only a short distance away from the resort centre, this beach is a well guarded secret of those who want to catch some rays away from the usual gaggle of tourists.

Top Attractions

  • Aquapark Costa Teguise: The biggest water park in Lanzarote is here in Costa Teguise! The park has a great selection of attractions, including pools, rapids, slides, a jacuzzi, and a lake, all of which are available in mini at the kid’s zone! There are also free sunbeds, lockers to rent, a photo store, restaurant, and free car parking! The park is easily accessible, with adapted toilets and changing rooms for people with reduced mobility, and lifts into various pools.

  • Fundación Cesar Manrique: Tucked away in a hollow carved from an old lava flow, is the former home of the artist and architect César Manrique. A native of Arrecife, Manrique was instrumental in the design of buildings that would attract tourists to Lanzarote. The César Manrique Foundation, though established ten years prior, was launched upon Manrique’s untimely death in 1992. The Foundation opened up his former home to the public, including access to a gallery featuring his original art alongside the original sketches from Pablo Picasso and Joan Míro he had collected.

  • Lanzarote Aquarium: As the largest aquarium in the Canary Islands, the Lanzarote Aquarium uses over 1 million litres of water to house hundreds of marine species. The center’s mission is to promote environmental awareness in a fun and engaging way, which is reflected in their use of touchpools for adults and children, their underwater tunnel where you can watch sharks swim above you, and their exhibit on the dangers of ocean pollution.
