Majorca Resorts

Attractions

  • Plaça d’Espanya
  • If you’re planning on travelling around Majorca, you may inadvertently find yourself spending quite a bit of time in the Palma Intermodal Station. As the main transport centre in the city, all roads really do seem to lead here!

The centre of the square is marked by a statue of King James I of Aragon, a central figure in the history of Majorca. The station itself is home to a number of cafés and a tourist information centre.

  • La Seu
  • The Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma, more commonly known as La Seu, is a Gothic Cathedral in the heart of Palma de Mallorca. Construction started on the cathedral under the Crown of Aragon in 1229, though would take until 1601 to be completed!

Interest in the cathedral soared again in 1901 when the famous Catalan artist Antoni Gaudí was chosen to aid in the building’s restoration. Today, the palace’s striking exterior is a veritable guide to gothic architecture, (with spires and flying buttresses galore!) and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city.

  • Old City
  • In the shadow of La Seu lie the winding streets of Palma’s Old City, El Casco Antiguo. Here, narrow alleyways give way to some of the best preserved buildings from Majorca’s Roman and Moorish past. This includes the Royal Palace of Almudaina, the Banys Àrabs (Arab Baths), Convent of the Cathedral, and the Ajuntament (Town Hall).
