No holiday in Majorca would be complete without the beach, and the Platja Llenaire in Puerto Pollensa will not disappoint! The beach is family friendly, with lifeguards regularly on duty, water sports on offer, and a pretty promenade that features a modest range of shops and restaurants.
The beauty of the beach is mentioned in the book Problem at Pollensa Bay and Other Stories by Agatha Christie where she describes the view from a hotel in Pine Walk.
“...a view that in the misty haze of a fine morning had the exquisite vagueness of a Japanese print.”
Take a pilgrimage up the winding roads of the Pollensa cliff side to the Far de Formentor, the highest lighthouse in the Balearic Islands! Standing tall at an impressive 210 metres above sea level at the secluded tip of Cap de Formentor, one can appreciate how difficult it must have been for those who built the lighthouse back in 1863.
The Formentor Lighthouse is still active today, and from afar it really does look like the cover of a great classical novel. If ever you find yourself looking for an epic or romantic view in Majorca, this lighthouse is well worth a visit.
The main square of Puerto Pollensa, Plaça Miquel Capllonch, is named for the famous Majorcan pianist and composer Miquel Capllonch Rotger. Rotger had his start studying music in Pollença, and is honoured there today not only by name, but with a bronze bust in the heart of the square.
Plaça Miquel Capllonch is surrounded by restaurants, shops and bars, making it the main meeting point of Puerto Pollensa. There is also a market every Wednesday, which features stalls brimming with fish, fruit, clothing, and local crafts.
To help set your holiday off on the right foot, we here at Best4Travel have compiled a list of the top cafés and restaurants in and around Port de Pollença, divided by price to cater to all budget types.
